Newell elected Patriots’ President

KINGSTON, July 30, 2017: The People’s National Party (PNP)  Patriots have elected Omar Newell to lead the Party’s young professionals caucus. In the private session of their national conference today, Newell was elected unopposed as President with a new National executive body.

Councilor of the Bellefield Division, Mario Mitchell, and Ryan Bailey, were both elected vice-presidents.  Naresha Murray-Graham replaces Newell as the Patriots’ General Secretary (Christopher Henry and Dr. Theophilus Nelson are her deputies) and businessman Karl Kirkland is the Patriots’ treasurer.

The group’s outgoing leader, Javette Nixon, encouraged the new executive to lead young professionals in a way that is beneficial to the PNP and Jamaica.  According to Nixon people’s lives are at the centre of the policy development process, offering an exciting opportunity for Patriots to be a voice of reason and progress in the Party.

Nixon felt humbled by today’s transition and promised to continue serving the PNP by working hard on the Party’s commissions that are driving policy.

Patriots will be addressed by PNP General Secretary Julian Robinson and Mayberry Investment’s CEO Gary Peart during the public session of their national conference, before a press conference at 4 p. m., when members of the media will get to question the young professionals’ leaders.
