PATRIOTS SAY DUNN MUST COME CLEAN ON JDF RECORD

Kingston, Jamaica, October 17, 2017: The young professional arm of the People’s National Party, the Patriots, says it is not deterred by threats of legal action and repeats its call on the Jamaica Labour Party’s candidate for South East St. Mary, Dr. Norman Alexander Dunn to tell the voters whom he is seeking to represent, what were the circumstances which led to his separation from the 3rd Battalion of the Jamaica Defence Force.

Specifically, the Patriots is asking whether Dunn at any time requested to be removed from a patrol for personal reasons. Is it true that after investigations of the reasons given by him, he was asked to resign? Were the reasons given by him related to the mechanical conditions of his vehicle? And after the approval of such request, whether upon further investigation by his seniors he was asked by them to resign from the JDF?

“The truth is the ultimate defence and we are prepared to defend ourselves against any challenge of Mr. Dunn on the ground of the truth,” says Patriots President Omar Newell.

“It is not enough for Mr Dunn to confirm that he was in fact a member of the 3rd Battalion of the Jamaican Regiment (3JR) and that he resigned. He must tell Jamaica whether his resignation was voluntary or it was requested,” Newell argued. “People need to know the quality of service Mr Dunn has provided in the past, as that is the best indicator of the service they can expect from him in the future,” Newell added.

We continue to harbour hopes that those who seek to enter our Legislative Chamber demonstrate accountability and trustworthiness and therefore would not resist admitting to past errors of judgement.
