The People’s National Party Patriots are demanding Security Minister Robert Montague’s departure from the Ministry of National Security (MNS), which they say he has mismanaged, battered and demoralized since his tenure at the helm begun; making him an existential threat to national security.
The Chairman of the PNP aligned young professional’s group, Javette Nixon says that, “Minister Montague is presiding over increasing levels of insecurity and fear for everyday Jamaicans.
“There have been growing fears over the past six months” Nixon says. He states that “Jamaicans are crying out for Montague’s sacking in order to stem the unprecedented permeation of mayhem and anarchy across the Jamaican society”.
January 2017 is Jamaica’s bloodiest start to the New Year, and contrasts clear signs of progress recorded at the start of 2016. For the Patriots this is evidence of a rudderless and failing security climate where growing numbers of vulnerable people are falling victim to vicious criminals.
“The Minister charged with generally directing and controlling this Ministry should be made to admit that the situation is simply out of control and resign, before our country further loses the basic ability to maintain law and order”, Nixon said.
The National Council of the Patriots have invited PNP Members of Parliament Julian Robinson and Dr. Peter Phillips to attend a private meeting on February 4, 2017, where they will discuss crime fighting proposals and the urgency to insist that another Minister is tasked with protecting the lives and livelihood of Jamaica’s people.
