Patriots Congratulate Robinson and hope for Smooth Transition

The Peoples’ National Party (PNP) Patriots are expressing confidence in the leadership transition process kicked off by the PNP’s out-going General Secretary, Paul Burke and Party President, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, while congratulating the Party’s new General Secretary, Julian Robinson on his appointment earlier today.

Patriots, the young professional caucus of the PNP, say that like most Jamaicans they praise Simpson-Miller for over 40 years of self-sacrificial and exceptional National service, adding that because of her service Jamaica made significant strides in – among other sectors – Sports, Tourism, Labor and Social Development throughout those decades.

According the Patriot’s Chairman, Javette Nixon, “The Most Honorable Portia Simpson Miller’s genuine selfless devotion to us and all Jamaicans is what ultimately twice allowed this great matriarchal PNP President to lead our nation as Prime Minister and shatter the gender ceiling”.

The Patriots respectfully described Burke as ‘a vanguard of PNP ideology and a well-respected mentor to hundreds of comrades from all social backgrounds’.

“Paul Burke’s appointment as General Secretary allowed ‘The General’, to draw on decades of experience in the so-called trenches, in an effort to strengthen political will and knowledge across PNP groups”, Nixon said.  “We will encourage Comrade Burke’s successor to continue to strengthen the PNP’s culture of political participation within local Party groups”, he added.

The Patriots are hoping that Robinson’s appointment triggers a smooth transition to a new PNP leader ready to immediately reengage investors, international partners and hardworking Jamaicans in building and benefiting from the stable and progressive social and economic environment promised to them during the necessary economic recovery that followed 2010’s economic crisis.

“Jamaica quickly needs an Opposition that is the Government in waiting since this JLP Administration is inept of policies and ideas, and is known for habitually breaking its promises to the electorate and to international partners” Nixon says.

The Patriot’s Chairman says that PNP professionals will work harmoniously with Robinson to strengthen constituency groups and organizations nationally and build the PNP’s appeal as Jamaica’s better option.
