Worthwhile Sacrifices, Patriots Parish Chairman is Sworn in as Councilor

The PNP Patriots join with residents of Bellefield in Manchester in celebrating the election of Mario Mitchell, the Chairman of the Manchester Chapter of the Patriots – who was sworn in today as their Councilor in the Manchester Parish Council.

The young professionals affiliated to the People’s National Party say that Mitchell’s victory emphasized that there are opportunities for young people to make a contribution to their community and at the national level.

Omar Newell, the Patriot’s General Secretary, has hailed Mitchell’s victory as manifestation of the organization’s hard work leading up to and during the local government election.  He said the organization’s members were strategically dispatched to Divisions across Jamaica, including in: Manchester, St. James, Clarendon, St. Mary, St. Catherine and Portland.

According to Newell, “the PNP Patriots assisted a number of PNP Councillor candidates with good effect by walking communities, canvassing voters, engaging in various communication tasks and providing financial support in spite of the various challenges faced with available resources”

“Cde Mitchell’s victory comes in spite of these challenges which both the organization and the party have been experiencing recently. This new atmosphere simply requires more individual and collective effort in our commitment to the cause of defending the interests of our people and country”, Newell added.

The Patriots are encouraging young professionals disenchanted with Jamaican politics to wake up and be engaged.

“The future of Jamaica depends on your involvement. We cannot continue to rely on others to chart the course for us.  Now is the time to step forward in your community, in your parish, in your region and help shine the light for a better Jamaica”, Newell recited.

The Patriots’ General Secretary emphasised that PNP Patriots will remain active inside Bellefied and all the divisions where their members recently engaged the electorate.

“We are on a mission to fully integrate young professionals and continuously advocate for progressive government policies and the reform of some of the PNP’s internal structures”, Newell said.
